ProVention Health Foundation Intern Honored with Outreach Award

We’re excited to share that ProVention Health Foundation’s intern Blessing Chukwuma received the 2025 Graduate-Professional Student Congress (GPSC) Outreach Award from the Graduate School at the University of Arkansas. The award recognizes students who have demonstrated meaningful community engagement and social responsibility, both locally and globally.

As part of her internship, Chukwuma is working on an HPV vaccination project focused on Sub-Saharan Africa, where she plays a key role in identifying countries most burdened by cervical cancer and supporting efforts to provide life-saving vaccines.

For Chukwuma, public health is not just a profession; it is a personal mission rooted in her own experiences.

“Growing up in a developing country, I witnessed firsthand the drastic impact of preventable diseases in our population,” she said. “I also lost a parent to hypertension, which made the reality deeply personal and strengthened my resolve to be part of the solution. I love that I am part of something bigger than me and  have the privilege to be connected to valuable associates and colleagues,” Chukwuma added. “I also love that I can practice and implement my classroom learning in real life projects that actually save lives.”

After she graduates in December 2025, Chukwuma hopes to work in public health and analytics within a nonprofit or a healthcare system.
