FOOD AND NUTRITION SECURITY

NEW RESOURCE: Updated and New Food and Nutrition Security Profiles

In 2021, NACDD’s Center for Advancing Healthy Communities developed Food and Nutrition Security Profiles in partnership with Feeding America and CDC’s Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity. While not exhaustive, the Profiles highlight the collaborative opportunities and efforts within each state to help affect food and nutrition security programs, policies, practices, and infrastructure. The Profiles serve as a companion to the National Food and Nutrition Security Profile and will be reviewed and updated biennially, as needed.

In the summer of 2024, the Profiles were updated to incorporate feedback from states and territories, as well insights gained from the COVID-19 pandemic.

What’s New?

  • New Profiles were created for the District of Columbia, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI), Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), Puerto Rico, and Guam.
  • New sections were added to each Profile including Food As Medicine, Child Nutrition Programs, Emergency Food Response, and State Public Health Contacts for Food and Nutrition Security.

What’s Next?

  • Take a moment to review the Profile for your state or Territory.
  • Share your Profile with other state and local partners as a resource and/or partnership opportunity.
  • Share the link to all the Profiles with your network. (See sample messaging below)
  • Look at the other Profiles to identify potential partner organizations or ideas.

Sample Messaging
Adapt sample messaging to promote the Food and Nutrition Security Profiles across your network. Tailor the messaging to highlight your state, territory, or organization, and/or your involvement with food and nutrition security efforts.
